The Singers and Composers that inspired my love of music

We’re delighted to announce that Tony O Dálaigh, co-founder of Irish National Opera and later a director of the Dublin Theatre Festival, will deliver our next talk on Saturday 7th November in Buswells Hotel. The starting time will be at our traditional time of 11am. All are welcome.

In this personal and nostalgic talk to members of the John McCormack Society, Tony will share some of the singers and composers who shaped his lifelong love of music. Through a selection of memorable recordings, Tony will revisit the artistry of great voices including Beniamino Gigli, Jussi Björling, Luciano Pavarotti, Robert Merrill, Janet Baker and Eleanor Steber, alongside the music of composers such as Schubert, Donizetti, Puccini, Beethoven and Hugo Wolf.

From the passion of opera to the intimacy of song, each performance has its own story to tell. Together, these musical treasures offer an opportunity to celebrate the voices, melodies and recordings that have brought Tony lasting pleasure and helped inspire his passion for music.
